Kimberly and Mike drove all the way from Ohio to spend the weekend in Virginia Beach planning there upcoming wedding in October. They choose Virginia Beach because they wanted to have a beach wedding and liked what the area had to offer. So this is truely a destination wedding for them. We had a lot of fun photographing their engagement session. I love that Kimberly brought a hat with her and used it as a prop!

Lora was visiting from Georgia for the weekend and wanted to have some photographs taken of her with her brother serving in the Military at the oceanfront. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans in mind as storm clouds started to build up in the afternoon of our session. Since rescheduling was not an option, we moved up the shoot to try and beat the storm. And it worked… well kind of, we got in some really great shots and even two outfit changes before the rain came and washed us out from the beach. We then used the cover of the trees to photograph a couple of more before we were soaked completely. It was pretty wild and ideally I don’t like to feel so rushed during portrait sessions, but I’m glad I was able to capture some important photographs for Lora and her family.
I love doing engagement sessions! It really gives me the opportunity to get to know my clients. Christine warned me ahead of time that her and Ed were like Monica and Chandler on Friends, and couldn’t relax in front of the camera. But after a couple of minutes, I could see that they were a lot better then they thought! I think part of the reason why is because my sessions are fun and relaxed. There is no pressure of a studio setup and awkward posing. It’s all natural!
